Chris Hughes is an audio engineer based in Los Angeles. His passion in the art and science of music has been present ever since he was very young and growing up in Colorado. Chris moved to California in his late teens and studied music theory in Santa Barbara with emphasis on songwriting. That is also where he landed his first studio internship at the legendary Santa Barbara Sound Design. He received a Batchelor's of Applied Science in Sound Arts from Ex'pression College for Digital Arts and started a successful freelance audio career. Over the years he has helped numerous bands create and release their music. Chris has worked in recording sessions with Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon), Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis) and Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, Blondie). He also assisted mastering engineer Piper Payne on the team of Neato Mastering (Shannon and the Clams, Madam Gahndi). In 2020 Chris was invited to join the Recording Academy and a Grammy voting member.
“Chris is a fantastic engineer to work with. He is patient, easy to communicate with, and most important - loves what he does and works with all his heart. With Chris's help, our album was voted top 50 post-rock albums of 2017.”
